Cheaper?
|
You've all heard that everything is cheaper in the Czech Republic than it is in Western Europe or the USA, and that's mostly true, with few exceptions: most notably, electronic items and hard alcohol (spirits).
However, they are NOT cheap for Czechs, or for you if you are managing on a Czech salary. In fact, on a Czech salary, life here is dang expensive - much harder than in the U.S.
In fact, a typical "middle class" educated person in the Czech Republic with an average, professional salary is able to scratch out a lifestyle that amounts to LESS of what a high school dropout, minimum-wage worker would enjoy in California. What's infinitely worse, is that the opportunity for this middle-class person to "move up" and improve their lot, is almost non-existant. Unlike the dropout in California, who later ends up working for Microsoft.
